Uthama Puthiran is the only big budget film to be released this Diwali. This Dhanush-Genelia starrer was a blockbuster in Telugu, which had Ram and Genelia in lead roles.
The film’s status among the Tollywood audiences has raised an expectation that UP would be a hit in Tamil too.
Mithran Jawahar who has directed this film says that he has changed the film to suit our audience and Dhanush’s fans.
UP will be released all over Tamil Nadu in about 600 theatres, reveals a source from Kollywood.

Tamil movie Uthama Puthiran starring Dhanush, Genelia in the lead roles was released on Diwali day and is raking good collections all over Tamilnadu. This film is a remake of Telugu super hit Ready. Directed by Mithran, Uthamaputhiran was the only Tamil release with a noted star during this Diwali weekend. No wonder it has been the best opener in Tamilnadu this week.
Uthamaputhiran got rave reviews from the critics and it is helping the film to get good patronage. Family crowds are giving thumbs up to this light hearted entertainer. In Uthama Puthrian comedian Vivek did the role that Brahmanandam played in the original.
Vivek excelled in the role named Emotional Ekambaram and he was the main highlight of this film. Dhanush, who has been enjoying decent run for over a period of time, continues his success streak as Uthamaputhiran was declared as a hit by Tamil trade.
