Haripriya Busy with Tamil and Telugu Movies

These days, she has tirelessly been travelling between Hyderabad and Chennai to complete her Telugu and Tamil projects.

And the actress calls her new status — ‘a transfer with a promotion’ from Kannada industry. “I am happy with the kind of projects I have been offered from Telugu and Tamil industries. My Telugu movie Takita Takita with Harshavardhan is doing extremely well in theatres. I got a chance to work with actors like Nagarjuna, Anushka and Bhoomika Chawla in that film, which was an unforgettable experience. With the release of Endhiran, I am just worried about my film’s fate,” says the actress.

Back home, Haripriya has to shoot for a song for the Sri Murali-starrer Nande, which is expected to release at the end of this year.

“I am looking forward to the release of Vallakotai, a Tamil project with Arjun Sarja. Apart from that, I have signed another movie in Tamil called Muran opposite Charan. My Kannada movie Nande is almost ready except for a song that needs to be filmed. So I have a busy schedule coming up,” she grins.

Haripriya believes that working in different industries has helped her reinvent her abilities as an actress.

“It is a great feeling to have won the love of the audiences of three regions. Frankly speaking, I have a lot to learn from Telugu and Tamil industries when it comes to the technical aspects. Their technical ability is on par with any international industry. Otherwise, it is all the same wherever I go,” she adds.

Though busy with projects in three languages, Haripriya still regrets missing the film Shikari due to date clash.

“I was offered a role in Shikari, the first Kannada venture of Mammootty sir. But the shooting was later postponed due to some problem. The new schedule clashed with my other projects so the movie slipped out of my hands,” laments the actress.

When asked to choose her favourite among the three metropolitan cities — Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad — namma Haripriya quickly votes for the Garden City. “Once you get adjusted to Bangalore, you don’t feel good in any other city. That is the charm of this City. My second favourite is Hyderabad as I love to shop in this historic city. The Hyderabad City Centre is my favourite shopping destination. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like Chennai. The problem with Chennai is I don’t know the language and am not familiar with the localities yet.”

ACTING WITH ARJUN WAS FUN

Actress Haripriya is eagerly awaiting this Deepavali. That's because, the actress will get to spend some quality time with her family .

"The last few years, I have been either travelling or shooting during the occasion. But this time around, I will be with my family, enjoying the sweets and savouries," she smiles.
This festive season is also important to her because her film Vallakkottai with Arjun, directed by A Venkatesh, is all set to hit the screens. "This is my second Tamil film, after Kanagavel Kakka (KK) with Karan. I want to know how the audience like the film," says Haripriya.

So, how did she land the role in this film? "I had met Arjun during the Amritamahotsava in Karnataka and he asked me if I would do a film with him. He narrated the storylines of some of the films he was working on at that time and finally suggested my name to Venkatesh sir for Vallakkottai," she reveals.

Haripriya says the character she plays in the film is entirely different from the one she portrayed in KK. "In KK, I was a modern and mischievous girl. I would rag boys and con them into giving me money. But in Vallakkottai, I play an accountant. I'm in saris on-screen and wear a nice bindi on my forehead. I had more responsibility in this film because I had to express my emotions more through expressions and less through words," she says.

Haripriya shot for close to 25 days for the film. "Two songs were canned in Mauritius and dancing with Arjun was super fun," she smiles. The actress says she'll never forget the day when she had to shoot for her introduction scene in the movie.

"According to the script, I was supposed to fall from a boat into a river. Things were fine and I managed to fall into the water in my sari. But once I got drenched, I couldn't bear the stench that was emanating from the river. To top it all, one of my co-artistes didn't get the scene right and we had to go for a retake. After we finally finished the scene, I realised even I was stinking! But I couldn't change out of my costume because we had another continuity scene to shoot for!"

Haripriya is also busy shooting for Muran with Cheran. "I play Lavanya, a fashion designer, and Cheran's love interest in the film. She's the kind of girl with whom any guy would fall in love," says the actress who also has a few Telugu and Kannada projects on hand.
